Our favourite walking areas
An island nature reserve largely covered with pine forest that in some cases is over 200 years old. The protected plants oysterleaf and sea holly can also be spotted here. Swim in the sea from a sandy beach or rocks. Download a leaflet with a map HERE.
Bohusleden is a walking trail with 27 stages that offers 370 km of walking through a variety of stunning countryside. It runs from Lindome in the south to Strömstad in the north.
The richly varied stages in Strömstad Municipality are easily accessible. Bohusleden winds its way along paths and quiet roads, in forest and sometimes through idyllic farms.
The trail also offers panoramic views, with a hike to Bohuslän’s highest peak, Björnerödpiggen at Krokstrand, serving up incredible views of Idefjorden and the surrounding landscape.

A regular ferry service runs all year round to Sweden’s most westerly inhabited islands, many of which are nature reserves. In summer, boats to Koster also run from Daftö’s jetty. The islands offer superb walking, with marked trails on both islands. The islands are small enough to explore on foot and in the summer you’re never far from a cooling dip in the salty sea.
