Activities in and around Strömstad
Strömstad is a true gem on the Swedish west coast. The city, pulsating with life and charm all year round, was granted its city rights in 1676 by Karl XI and is often referred to as Sweden's westernmost outpost. The Svinesund Bridge and the ferry connection between Sandefjord and Strömstad link Norway and Sweden, making experiences on both sides of the border easily accessible. Between the countries lies Kosterhavet, Sweden’s first marine national park with plenty of natural experiences.
Tips on things not to miss in Strömstad
- Take a boat trip to the idyllic Koster Islands and snorkel along Kosterhavet’s snorkelling trails.
- In the northern parts of Bohuslän there are many rock carvings, including 3,000-year-old ones at the Massleberg farm, located about 15 minutes from Daftö.
- Walk along the long seafront promenade in the town centre.
- Take the ferry or drive to Norway and visit Sandefjord, Oslo or Fredrikstad with all they have to offer.
- Visit the Blomsholm ancient monument area and ship setting.
The amusement park in Strömstad
At Daftöland you can experience fast-paced rides in attractions, play games, and meet park pirates. The amusement park is part of Spöktober on Daftö, a terrifyingly fun fall holiday adventure Wednesday-Saturday weeks 40, 41 and 44. These days the park is open between 4-8 pm and you can ride all attractions except Silverforsen and the jumping boats. You can also get your face painted, go to the haunted cellar, watch a horror movie in 4DX and visit the resort for the Spöktåg, pumpkin carving and Spökpartaj. Entrance to Daftöland is included in the accommodation price and can be purchased separately for day visitors.
Restaurants and coffee shops in Strömstad
Strömstad is the seaside town with vibrancy and charm all year round. Try one of the cozy cafes or explore and shop in Strömstad's unique boutiques. In the guest harbor, boats and eager visitors looking for a coffee mingle. There you'll find restaurants, outdoor seating, playgrounds, and every opportunity for an ice cream break. From the square, several excursion boats depart to the islands around Strömstad. If you venture a bit north, you'll find Nordby Shopping Center, where we promise all candy lovers, both young and old, a candy paradise at one of the world's largest candy stores. Besides candy, you'll find everything you can imagine on no less than 80,000 square meters and with approximately 110 stores.
Boating and Boat Excursions in Strömstad

Skate park

Challenge your family or friends with games and bowling at Strömstad Foodcourt. Hyperbowling, Shuffleboard, and much more await you. You'll find the food court at Strömstad Shoppingcenter. Here, there are ultra-modern bowling lanes, games, and food from all over the world. Kosterhavet national park
The Kosterhavet National Park is open year-round, offering a unique flora and fauna both above and below the water. You can hike along the coast, paddle, dive, swim, and enjoy other nature experiences here. Join a guided tour or explore the archipelago on your own.
Oyster safari at Tjärnö
Experience a true West Coast adventure at Tjärnö, just outside Daftö. You both fish for and eat the oysters. Located next to Kosterhavets National Park, we have oyster banks, boathouses, and beautiful archipelago nature. The oyster safari includes an oyster school, oyster fishing, oyster opening, and tasting.
