Swimming at and around Daftö
Lovely swims are part of summer – and at Daftö you have plenty of options. Choose between our two own beaches, discover beautiful swimming spots around Strömstad, or take a dip in our heated pool area.
Swim at the beach or explore swimming gems nearby
At Daftö you’ll find two cosy beaches where both little and big pirates can enjoy salty dips, sandy shores and sun-warmed rocks. If you want to explore more of the west coast, there are several public beaches nearby – from child-friendly sandy beaches to tranquil sea bays.
If you prefer the pool, our pool area offers a heated pool, sun loungers and a pool bar serving light dishes and ice cream – perfect for a whole day in the sun. Read more about the pool area here.

Norra and Södra stranden
Daftö has two beaches, the North Beach (Norra stranden) and the South Beach (Södra stranden). The North Beach is located between the Norrviken area and the guest harbour. Here you’ll find a jetty, a swimming raft to swim out to, and a small sandy beach. The South Beach is the largest, with a jetty, sandy beach and cliffs. On the jetty there is a small slide. It is at the South Beach that several of the activities with the Daftö pirates take place, and the crab fishing competition is one of them. Check the calendar at dafto.se to see when the activities at Daftö take place.
Tips for swimming around Daftö
Beaches in the area worth a visit
Kallbadhuset in the town centre
Along the seafront promenade in Strömstad, with a view directly towards Koster, you can visit Kallbadhuset to swim, work out in the outdoor gym, or perhaps enjoy the sauna. Tickets are purchased at Strömstad Badanstalt, which we can also recommend if you prefer indoor swimming.
Saltö
Here you’ll find great opportunities to swim from both sandy beaches and cliffs along the southern part of the island. You can also explore Kosterhavet’s snorkelling trail.
The trail is about 200 metres long and lies at a depth of 1–1.5 metres. A blue line on the bottom leads you around to eight information signs under water. Two buoys at the start and finish show where in the water the trail begins and ends.
Capri
At Capri you’ll find both a long sandy beach and large, smooth rock formations. There is also a jetty, kiosk and toilets. Straight out from Capri you see Norway and Valer. From Strömstad to Capri, follow the signs towards Seläter, about 5 km.
Rossö
On the southern and western parts of Rossö, about 15 km southwest of Strömstad, there are several inviting sandy and rocky beaches. Saltpannan’s bathing spot, just before Kockholmen, offers both a shallow beach and cliffs.
Seläter
Seläter’s beach is located about 6 km northwest of Strömstad. Here you’ll find a sandy beach, large grassy areas, a jetty with a diving tower, a waterslide, kiosk, toilets and showers.
